Hornisse: waiting for a lift

Maschinen Krieger (Ma.K.) · Hornisse and P.K.A.

After a big LED project, this was a welcome respite. I wanted to try painting the light from an emergency torch, including the glow it casts on the ground and nearby surfaces.

The scene shows a pilot sitting beside his Hornisse, waiting for his friends to pick him up. His torch lights a small patch of ground while he waits.

The Hornisse comes from Kow Yokoyama’s Maschinen Krieger universe. Its pilot wears a P.K.A. armoured suit that fits into the craft and serves as its cockpit. Here, I’ve placed the suit outside, with the cockpit open behind him.

The original photographs show the physical model and its painted lighting effect. The two AI-generated images extend the scene into a barren lunar landscape.
